Delta rays are moderate energy
electrons which have been kicked off a nucleus by the passage
of a nearby high energy charged particle or other form of
ionizingradiation.
Delta rays were commonly produced as a side effect of older
generation warp engines, and in high enough concentrations
(emitted by some stars) can interfere with Federation sensor
technology.
