The electron is the most common
lepton, and is the least massive electrically charged matter
particle. It has a net charge of -1, and a mass of 9.110x10-28
grams. Most often it is found orbiting the nucleus of atoms of all
periodic matter. It is the
antiparticle of a
positron. When an electron annihilates with a
positron, the resultant energy is expelled as a
gamma ray.
