The Force

The Force is an energy field, possibly sentient, which provides Force-sensitives with heightened reflexes, awarenesses, and a variety of seemingly magical abilities. It is drawn upon by Jedi, who use the "light" side of the Force, and by the Reformed Sith Order, who use the "dark" side of the Force.

Of the two sides of the Force, the light side has a greater potential for use in acts such as healing, while the dark side has a greater aptitude for acts of violence. The dark side is supposed to be easier to use than the light side, and can be called upon unintentionally by a Force-sensitive whose emotions are out of control.

The Force is believed to be spreading through the Great Rift into the Alpha Quadrant, but only one resident of the Milky Way Galaxy has been shown to develop Force-sensitivity as a result.
