Background:
Two years after the launch of the Pioneer 10 spacecraft out of Earth's solar system, Steve was born in the vicinity of San Francisco. He is a member of a subspecies of velociraptor extinct by the time of Earth's 24th century. Steve is actually a native of 20th century Earth, who fell victim to embolism in 1996. Donald Raymond, Steve's father, had his son cryogenically frozen and sent into space for possible revival at some future date.
His sleeper ship was found on Stardate 41986.0 by the USS Enterprise-D. Using Starfleet's advanced medical technology, the medical personnel of the Enterprise-D were able to recover three of the persons aboard the sleeper ship: Steve T. Raymond, Sonny Clemonds, and Ralph Offenhouse.
Shortly after their recovery, the three were transferred to the USS CHARLESTON to be returned to Earth. On arrival, Sonny and Ralph returned to their hometowns, while - having adapted unusually fast to his circumstances and easily grasping the basic principles behind 24th century technology - Steve opted to stay aboard. Beginning as a crewman in Engineering, he was offered a field commission on Stardate 42148.97, and transferred to Starfleet Academy a year later. Four years after enrolling at the Academy, Steve graduated with distinction in software engineering and subspace field theory.
Steve is currently serving upon the USS FELIX, NCC-2072. Following the United Federation of Planets' brief conflict with the Galactic Empire, many of the officers on the FELIX were given promotions for their heroic acts, including many who were transferred to higher stations aboard other vessels. Lt. Raymond was assigned to remain aboard the vessel to serve at the Ops station.
Physical Description:
Steve Raymond is a Terran velociraptor who appears to be in his late teenage years. He is slightly over six feet tall, rather thin, and suprisingly graceful when he has to be. Steve has hair (brown, wavy, reaches below his shoulderblades. Usually tied at the nape of his neck, sometimes braided.), no fur, and has green eyes.
Character Notes:
- Cryogenically frozen since 1996.
- Uninterested in the opposite sex.
- Bad sense of humor, comprised mostly of sarcasm and gallows humor.
- Somewhat egocentric and easily provoked when stressed.
- Enjoys 20th-century Earth culture, including food, entertainment, and various melee and projectile weapons from that era.
- Posesses a holodeck "shooting range" program suitable for projectile weaponry, in keeping with the above hobby.

- Off-duty clothing consists of reconstructed 20th-century clothing, primarily jeans and t-shirts.
- When questioned about his hair, a distinctly unusual trait for a reptile, Raymond mentions that his father had feathers instead and tries to change the subject as quickly as possible.
