Major Changes from Official Canon and Continuity
From TFC Galactopedia
This list of story changes to the canon of "Trek" and "Wars" is by no means complete. For a complete record (including TFC canon technologies) please read the list of Canon Information.
Change of Events in Imperial Space
- The Events of "A New Hope" occur 16 years after the events depicted in "Attack of the Clones" rather than 22 years after. Because of this, Luke and Leia are 6 years younger (putting Luke at 14 years old in "A New Hope"). This has something to do with the reason why Tarvik chose to leave the DEATH STAR, most likely because other Rebels missed the shot into the DEATH STAR core before Luke came in to finish the job. (Think of young Anakin flying around in a Naboo starfighter in EpI, and you'll get a rough idea of young Luke becoming an unexpected member of the Rebel assault on the DEATH STAR).
- The Rebel Alliance lost the Battle of Endor, which in this timeline is known as the Massacre of Endor. Luke Skywalker and his father, Anakin, both died around this time if not before (it is possible Vader killed himself or was killed by the The Emperor after he realized what he had done in killing his own son; details of this are murky). Shortly after the failed assault on the second DEATH STAR, the Rebel Alliance fractured into splinter groups and has all but been wiped out in the following years.
- The Emperor is believed to be a clone of a powerful Jedi grown by a sect of darkside occultists trying to restore the Golden Age of the Sith. However only anarchists who do not believe in the Empire believe this slander. The Emperor rose to power after the Supreme Chancellor was assassinated near the end of the Clone Wars; the Emperor was named his replacement in order to avoid anarchy in the Republic.
- In the official timeline, the Supreme Chancellor declared himself the Emperor at the end of the Clone Wars.
- The Jedi Purges did not take place to the extent that they did in the official universe. The Jedi were largely murdered and scattered accross the galaxy, but they are not completely extinct.
- In the official timeline, the Jedi are slaughtered near the end of the Clone Wars. Many of the more powerful Jedi are cut down brutally by clone troopers under their command; others are murdered by one of their own in the heart of the Jedi Temple.
- The Ssi-Ruuvi are not a major interstellar power in this timeline, as they have largely been under the influence of the Yuufusion Imperium (which does not exist in the typical Star Wars timeline).
- The events of the three prequel films did not take place as portrayed.
- TFC was being written before the release of the three prequels, and as such not all of the information is correct. This is especially true of Episode III, particularly with regards to the rise of the Empire and the fall of the Jedi.
Change of Events in Federation Space
- Bajor was ceded by the Cardassians in 2366 at the end of the Federation-Cardassian War, and it quickly proclaimed itself an independent state before being accepted to the Federation in 2370.
- In the official timeline, the Cardassians were forced off the planet by the Bajoran Resistance in 2369, and the planet still has not been accepted as a full-fledged member of the Federation.
- The USS Voyager was thrown into the Andromeda Galaxy and was presumed destroyed sometime shortly thereafter.
- In the official timeline, the USS Voyager was thrown into the Delta Quadrant, where it's journey home was supposed to take some 75 years. However, as warp speed quotes from Voyager and other Star Trek episodes thoroughly contradict this time factor, Voyager's "lost" location has been changed.
- The ship known as the NX-01 "Enterprise" was known as the PX-07 "Pheonix Seven" in this timeline. Instead of being a testbed for a Warp 5 engine, it was actually a more advanced Warp 7 engine.
- The Dominion War has not yet occured in this timeline, because in 2370, when the Dominion staged their "test offensive" on the Alpha Quadrant, the Federation and Klingon Empires responded in greater force, convincing the Founders to sign a non-agression pact until they could better acertain the battle-readyness and capabilities of their potential foes. Plans for a full-scale offensive were further postponed, however, by the appearance of the Galactic Empire in 2372.
