Far Galaxy
From TFC Galactopedia
The so-called "Far Galaxy," is the nickname given by residents of the Milky Way Galaxy's Alpha and Beta quadrants to the un-named galaxy that is home to the Galactic Empire and the Yuufusion Imperium. To residends of this galactic disk, they simply live in "the Galaxy" and the idea that some in the Milky Way have attempted to name their galactic disk something else is more than mildly ludicrous.
Structure
The Far galaxy is a moderately sized spiral galaxy with a total mass of about 310 billion solar masses, comprising 400 billion stars. The galactic disk has a diameter of about 75,000 light-years. The stars in the Far galaxy's disk rotate around the Deep Core, which harbours a supermassive black hole.
The galactic neighborhood
Until the opening of the Great Rift, the only close neighbor to the Far Galaxy was that of the Riche Maze Dwarf Galaxy. Now, the galactic disk is colliding with that of the Milky Way Galaxy. Other relatively nearby galaxies include the Andromeda Galaxy and the Triangulum Galaxy, which are the major members of the Local Group, a group of some 35 closely bound galaxies; The Local Group is part of the Virgo Supercluster.
