Background:
An only child, Violet is the latest in a long and distinguished line of her ruling family. Daphne, the Empress Mother, was, at first, a very loving parent at the side of VV's father. In her early childhood, however, that changed at the behest of a treacherous young woman of an ambitious non-noble house "Maloni."
The woman's name was Trenna and served as an assistant in the Royal Court. In exchange for a few political favors, she "revealed" to Daphene's mate that Violet Vortex was not his child, and even went as far as to insinuate she was rather the half-breed offspring of Sovereign Kain--a longtime friend of the royal house of Kadou, and ruler of the planet Daktia, just beyond the outskirts of Amazon space.
The idea was enough to send him into a rage which found the man on the planet Daktia, challenging it's ruler to a duel for his fiendish actions. However, he was only able to fight the Sovereign to a draw, and that night withdrew from the planet, never to be seen or heard from again.
At the disappearance of her lover, The Empress Mother Daphne became eccentric, and eventually outright abusive toward her daughter. The Senate, in a joint action with the Empress' Honor Guard, wished to move Violet to Daktia in hopes of removing her from her increasingly irrational mother's reach. They were stopped, however, by the newly elected Senator Trenna, who threatened to make the actions known to Daphene.
The Empress Mother's death is officially considered a suicide but anyone within the circle of first-hand knowledge denies such a charge. The commonly held belief is that Daphne's own daughter killed her in self defense, and the scandal was covered up by the Honor Guard. The sudden passing of her mother thrust a young Violet into the role of Child-Empress of the vast Amazon Imperium, robbing her of what childhood she did not lose in her violent bouts with her distraught mother.
Soon after, she selected her group of playmates as her new Honor Guard. The Honor Guard is comprised of four females around Violet's age (though all are older) that are perhaps the only people that can be possibly considered her friends. But she is distanced even from the Honor Guard. As the empress, and hence the person being protected, by proclaiming them her Honor Guard she solidified them as permanently attached yet separate from herself. As such, Violet is painfully lonely and awkward around those her own age. She feels most at ease with either those much younger than herself (children) or those that are older. Perhaps due to her lack of a father figure, Violet tends to gravitate towards older men specifically, being most easily persuaded by them.
Character Notes:
Violet remains gentle and soft spoken. She is a benevolent leader, always wanting the best for her people. She is enthusiastic and earnest and remarkably creative in problem-solving. However, she has severe emotional and relationship problems that make up her biggest Achilles' heel. She has the most problems when the political world crosses into the personal realm. For example, a comment about her height during a debriefing will cause her to lose her confidence and falter.
She speaks little of herself, finding it uncomfortable and is evasive, but impersonal topics she'll discuss with great enthusiasm and to great lengths. Through these means it is easy to see what she finds important, where her values lie, etc. Otherwise, it is difficult to gain a straightforward answer from her. This personal evasiveness is compounded by her wish not to offend nor harm and is reflected in her fighting skills. Although an excellent fighter in a technical sense, she is not as fierce and aggressive as she could be. This shyness with being aggressive is her biggest fault or strength and taints her politics as well. This stems from her wish to be accepted and liked by everyone. This impossible goal also extends to her politics, her idea of a perfect world is where everyone accepts everyone else.
