Deep Core
From TFC Galactopedia
The "Deep Core" stretches out from the very center of the Far Galaxy in all directions to form a rough sphere with an average radius of about 4,200 lightyears. It has the greatest density of stars of any area in either galaxy, and it's intense gravitational mass makes hyperspace travel through even it's outskirts extremely dangerous. To make matters worse, at the center of the galaxy lies a huge black hole, which means that if any hyperlanes do extend into the inner regions of the deep core, the great majority would be severely constricted pathways that lead to dead-ends.
The Empire is thought to have a handful of safe hyperspace pathways into the Deep Core, but this is unconfirmed.
