Background:
Like his older half brother, Sher Khal'Saad, details of Shinsen Korriban's early life are tightly held secrets, the minutiae of which are only known to the Emperor himself or a few of his most trusted aides. Both he and his half-brother were taken from their parents at an early age for reasons unknown. The identity of their parents is likewise unknown. The brothers were both raised at different times by a gathering of monks on the Sith world called Tyranus. There, the eldest of the two was given the name Khal'Saad, which in the old tongue means "warrior," while the younger boy was called Korriban, which means "knight." The two studied under the guidance of the monks for many years, learning the secrets of ancient Sith mystics and paving the way for further training they would receive in the dark ways of The Force. Though separated by years, both Korriban and Khal'Saad attended to their studies, and through their time at the monastery gradually abandoned the life they had known before the Sith.
Though technically Korriban never knew his family, many of the monks thought it wise to use the idea of unknown parents and siblings as a tool to instill a sense of competition and envy within the young boy. Korriban was lied to about his family, told they had been powerful Sith whose accomplishments and level of skill was unattainable, all ideas that eventually led the young Sith to begin to hate the parents and siblings he never knew. The monks took advantage of these dark emotions and used them to forge within the boy a strong allegiance to the Dark Side.
By this time, the Monks of Tyranus were not alone, as agents of the Emperor and his Reformed Sith Order had since joined the school, taking increasing amounts of control over the curriculum. Several fights broke out in this time between the two orders of the Sith, the traditionalists retaliating against the foreign and unorthodox methods of their Reformist rivals.
By the time it came for Korriban to leave the monastery, he had become one of the first successes of the Emperor's plan. Korriban was trained in the classic dark arts but retained an undying allegiance to the Reformed Sith Order.
Character Notes:
The affairs of galactic wars, government, politics and power do not concern him until the Emperor orders him to take notice; Korriban projects his darker tendencies inward, brooding, as it were, and awaiting the correct moment for his rage to manifest itself. He is often cool, competent and refined, but subject to bitter fits of rage.
