Background:

Born to a wealthy family living in the Bahamas on Earth, Cal Cooley has dreamed of leaving Earth and exploring space since high school. In high school, Cooley was very popular and was ASB president and the pianist in the Concert Jazz Band. He thinks of himself as a real hot shot, which caused him to be in trouble a lot at school.

Cal's parents were divorced when his father became a captain for the USS EUROPA, which lead his mother and step-father to disapprove of the federation and think space exploration is a waste of time. They did not approve Cal's admission to the academy and have not spoken to him nor have they supported him financially since he left.

He graduated from the academy on stardate 59126.3 and was shortly thereafter assigned to Captain Marc Xavier of the USS FELIX. Assigned to security, Cooley began to take on responsibilities that eventually lead to a promotion to Lieutenant, J.G. While on an away mission, Cooley proved that he had what it took to handle command positions, earning him yet another promotion to lieutenant and a position in the command sector of the FELIX's crew.

Character Notes:

Despite his promotions, Cal seems to take life much lighter than some of his crewmates and often finds himself playing practical jokes on others. The young rookie is also known for his lazy side. Through all his faults, Cal still seems to find friendly faces throughout the crew and hold friendships with many, especially with the female crew members.
