Br'Aetok

From TFC Galactopedia

Background:

Br'Aetok is the common born leader of his house. He was born on the homeworld and joined the military as a youth. His father had come from humble roots and had served in the military before settling down. Br'Aetok followed his lead but found the call of battle too loud to ignore and never retired from military service.

Br'Aetok is very close with Chancellor L'Noth, the older Tiger serving as a mentor to him in his younger days. The two have continued to be close friends and initially met in a now legendary Bar Fight on a seedy station near the border of Romulan space. The fight spread from the bar and spilled out onto the station decks and eventually the ships docked there. The fight led to the destruction of the entire station which in turn led to the destruction of a number of Romulan ships, including a number of cloaked vessels no one knew about. It was heralded as a great day by the Empire, and Rolumans refuse to discuss the matter entirely. Br'Aetok ended up on L'Noth's ship instead of his own and handled himself so well in the ensuing firefight in the aftermath of the station's destruction, he was offered a place on L'Noth's crew.

He flourished on this new crew, having felt the sting of some prejudice from his previous captain who viewed him (and rightly so) as a country bumpkin. L'Noth, instead of berating the young man, taught him how to be an officer. The crew, following their captain's lead, taught him how to be more worldly. Under the 'farm boy' grime they found an honerable warrior fit to fight beside. Br'Aetok's next meeting with his former crew left the other Klingons astonished by his transformation.

When he was a commander he got into an argument with one of the more junior officers, one Gar'ElsmaQ of the house of Voloth. The Tigers got into a number of fights over personal views on how the Empire was run, what was important politically, as well as there being tension between the noble and the commoner. Having felt the sting of a self important Noble before, and having fairly non-standard ideas it was perhaps inevitable that the two would clash. After a number of months, the two actively hated one another. After one too many altercations, L'Noth assigned them to work the same shifts and jobs, putting Br'Aetok in charge of Gar'ElsmaQ and stating that the younger man's honor would be his; they would learn to get along or someone would die. Either way the situation would be resolved in a manner other than this useless brawling in the messhall. Despite the rocky beginning, the two ended up fast friends and sworn brothers. Br'Aetok was persuaded by his friend to join the council as he saw the need for supporters. While they still do not agree all the time, they have learned to listen to the other side of the argument in no small part because of their friendship.

Br'Aetok's eldest son, Ketek, serves in the military and is a captain and a capable administrator. He married the surgeon who kept having to put him back together. They have three children. His second son, Vor, decided to become a scientist and married one of his co-workers. Unfortunately for the family, there was an accident and both Vor and Kanta died. Their young daughter, Q'Pesh, was one of the few survivors and has been raised by her extended family since she was 5. The youngest children are fraternal twins, Jor and Jadna who are also in the military.
