Background:
Amarenth Jadeite was one of the most promising Jedi Knights in the times before the Empire. Talented, smart and agile, she soon began to feel that the Jedi in some way were holding her back from her fullest potential, denying her from some sense of greatness she often felt was her due. Try though her master did, Jadeite proved stubborn and headstrong, always determined to best her peers because of a vague sense that she was at a disadvantage being a woman of her particular breed. This vague sense grew into a complex of victimization, wherein Jadeite felt that she had to be at least twice as good as any male padawan in order to gain recognition from her superiors--but even this desire for praise proved to be her downfall.
Jadeite was just coming of age when the Chancellor declared the beginning of the Empire and the Jedi Temple was overrun by dark agents of the Sith. But by that time, the young Jedi-to-be had already distanced herself from the ideology of the Jedi Knights, pursuing her own philosophy of the light and dark sides of the force, not too far from abandoning the Jedi Order entirely. She was an easy target for the tempting sweet words of a handsome younger Sith, and the glorious promises of power and prestige well beyond the artificial limits placed on her by the pedantic Jedi.
In the years that followed, those promises of power and prestige did not ring hollow, as the ambitious ex-Jedi quickly rose through the ranks of her sect of the Sith, becoming well respect and feared among her peers. But somehow the taste of those desired things turned sour in her mouth, as the years of infighting among her 'brethren' made her grow weary. At least among the Jedi, everyone's behavior was dictated by a strict set of rules; not so with the Sith, where a friend one moment can be your murderer in the next.
