Aerion Lyles

From TFC Galactopedia

Aerion Lyles was born in 1732 JA. He was one of very few Jedi who maintained contact with his relatives despite the Order's normal policy on such things. It was a condition his parents insisted on (and being something akin to minor royalty on their homeworld, that they got) before they would let the Jedi take their son for training. Aerion left the Jedi Order in 1773 JA of his own accord to salvage a near-disasterous political situation on his homeworld (the current Queen Mother was slowly slipping into insanity, and her daughter, Candas, could not step in until she had a fertile mate and confirmed offspring). Aerion became mate-consort of Candas, then daughter-heir of Lemoria. The position itself was a conditional one, given a year's time to produce viable offspring. Aerion was the third male to take the role of mate-consort for Candas, as the first two were unsuccessful.

In 1774 JA he fathered twin daughters, Roxzannah and Snow. The older of them was Roxzannah, whom he called Zannah. He chased off the Jedi sent to collect his elder child and take her back to the Order for training, threatening retribution on any others who might appear. In 1777 JA, he fathered a son, Tigre. In 1780 JA after six years of increasing discontent, eventually verging on violence when he discovered the ideals he had been raised with had very little to do with his mate's plans for their world and their children, he left angrily but voluntarily to make his own way. At some undisclosed point in the next four years he was captured and broken by a Sith named Jedek Valorn. Valorn used Aerion's love for his children against him, promising to leave them (and specifically Zannah) alone so long as he surrendered to the Dark Side.

Of course the Sith Lord fully intended to investigate what he found in the former Jedi's mind further, but the newly named Drakkon occupied most of his time at first. Overconfidence prevented him from pursuing it further. The new Sith had Force Bonding talent in small measure, and the benefit of decades of Jedi training. Freed from the limitations of the Jedi, he gained power at a hideous rate and offed his new 'Master' in short order. The damage was done, though. He went on to join with the rest of the Sith, gaining a reputation for ruthless cruelty as he rose in the ranks.

His desire to protect his daughter from the Sith was eventually twisted into a surety that when she was ready she would join him. This led him to make sure there was a watch kept on her, but that no one made a move until he, himself, was ready to do it. Since it became apparent that the child wasn't demonstrating particularly powerful abilities, it was an acceptable diversion that kept Drakkon fairly controlled. His fatal mistake came in trying to take her alone, though, not realizing just how far she had come from the child he remembered. He did not honestly expect her to fight back, though he was certainly more than skilled enough to defeat her. In the end, it was a lucky strike on her part that ended his life in 1793 JA (~61 years old, edging into middle age for a Lemorian). His death was recorded as the result of a confrontation with an unknown Jedi. A search was made for the perpetrator, but none was ever found. It was only after the encounter at Yag Dhul forced Zannah into the open, along with Sher Khal'Saad's report on the battle at Daktia and the Jedi he encountered there, that the connection to Darth Drakkon's death was made.
