Background: Born and raised on Mars in Aerelon city where her mother was a surgeon and her father was a teacher. She discovered an aptitude for things mechanical when she was in her mid-teens and changed career goals from the bio-sciences to engineering.
She attended the Academy and served as an Engineer on the USS ESSEX and the USS NOBEL, before being transferred to Utopia Planatia on her home planet of Mars. There she met her husband who was working as a Medical Officer at the yards. He retired from Starfleet when they had the first of their three children.
Anastasiia, or Ana, stayed at the Martian Shipyards until she was promoted to Captain. She and her family then moved to her new post on Earth where she worked with the Engineering Corps at Starfleet Headquarters. She was promoted to Admiral and then eventually Rear Admiral. She took charge of the entire department when her predecessor retired 4 years before the start of TFC. Since she moved to Earth, she has often taught engineering classes on subjects ranging from the very basic introductory concepts, to the more advanced theoretical classes.
Character Notes: Admiral Minovsky was a controversial choice for her current post. Her career up to that point had shown she was more open to experimentation and exploration of new facets of Engineering. Traditionalists who had hald sway over the office for some time despaired quietly when she was announced as the person taking the post. Ana generally disagrees with the idea that Engineering should iterate only on the tried and true methods, practices and equipment and leave the research to R&D. During her time as Engineering Admiral (or "Chief, Chief" as many call the post) there has been a greater influx of new and semi-experimental designs into the whole of Starfleet. Though traditionalists still grouse about the possibility for too much inconsistency between ships, the leaders of Starfleet approve of her improvements. A side effect has been more R&D types being more willing to serve on starships rather than stationary posts.
