| Born into an asteroid
mining community, he grew up learning how to handle all the
maintenance and fabrication headaches associated with a remote
outpost and a family run business. Holds a Class "A" Miner's permit,
and a Class "A" blasting permit. Left the family business to attend
a university. From there, with a degree in Aerospace engineering
(specializing in starship armament and sensory dynamics), he signed
onto a tramp freighter, gradually studying for and passing the exams
necessary to get his Merchant Engineer's ticket.
Was serving as chief engineer on a tramp
freighter registered in Klingon space when he earned his nickname (jonwI'
sop Hoch, or that darn engineer eats EVERYTHING!).
Financial problems with that ship led the Captain to try to turn to
piracy to make ends meet, the effort being thwarted by the ship's
executive officer, of Vulcan extraction, and the ship's Chief
Engineer. Recovering in the hospital after that particular incident,
he met the lady who was to become his wife.
Returned to the family business until
his father was killed in a mining accident. When the ore body played
out, the business was disbanded, his mother retired to Cait.
Khajja then decided to enter StarFleet, something he saw as a
moderately safe place to practice his skills as an engineer.
Obviously he anticipated working in a spacedock facility . . . his
orders to report to the FELIX were a bit of a surprise . . . His
wife, a nurse, works in the ship's sick bay. |
