"Star Trek" the Movie Debuts |

I'm hardly telling anyone anything new, but "STAR TREK" the Movie is released this week to movie theatres. As such, please remember to exercise your indoor voices and to post about the movie in a contained thread.
This is standard policy whenever a new Star Trek or Star Wars anything is released; we don't want to see things spoiled for everyone else at TFC.
Here's the "rules" which accompany the release of a new film:
1. Your opinion is not the end-all, be-all of the film; neither is anyone else's. Some people will like it, and others will hate it. If I see threads about the film turn into a degenerate flame war, I will turn the napalm on you. You have been warned.
2. Please try to limit discussions to 1 or 2 threads at most. Just because a lot of us have gone to see it, or will be going to see it, does not mean we all need to start our own threads about it.
3. "Can I do this here? I saw it in the movie" usually the answer to this question is a resounding NO. Every time a film, series, etc. is released, it modifies the official canon as set by Paramount or Lucasfilm. However, believe it or not, TFC is turning ten. As such, we have a very long-running and established canon of our own that actually predates all three of the Star Wars prequels and decent chunks of some Star Trek series, as well as - what is it, two? - Star Trek movies.
Members of the TFC admin staff will be going to geek out at this movie, same as everyone else, but we aren't doing it for the sole purpose of writing down in little notebooks what you can and cannot do here. You may *ask* but odds are that we will not incorporate more than one or two elements of what occurs on the theatre screen into the TFC Canon, because changing the Canon gives massive migraines to those of us whose second job TFC is - a second job without pay.
If you have any questions about forum behavior that is/is not appropriate to the movie, please let me know and I'll be happy to sort you out. |

Episode II: Chapter VII Released |

Chapter 7:
While the FELIX and her crew make their desperate escape from the Antares station docks, those less fortunate souls still trapped on board the station must make the biggest decision of their lives: to either save Admiral Rikes and his fleet, or risk the loss of their space station to the Empire. No matter what their decision, they know that the battle of Antares will have to be brought to an explosive end if anyone is to survive the Empire's wrath.
The cast and crew had a LOT of fun writing this chapter. Excessive amounts of evil abound. Have fun. |

Site outage & "Star Trek: The Experience" |

Sorry about the recent loss of the site, everyone. Things are up and running again. We appreciate your patience!
For those who have not already heard, "Star Trek: The Experience" in Las Vegas will be shutting down this year. Apparently CBS is looking to keep the ride going in another location, but no news on that yet.
We're still working on Chapter 6 and hope to have it for you soon. |

Recent outage |

As some of you no doubt noticed - and as others of you no doubt had no clue - TFC recently experienced an outage first from an unexpected server move (yay, host) and then from the delays of various ISPs updating their DNS cache.
We would like to remind users at this point that if you join the TFC newsletter, you will be informed via email or a web alert of things such as website outages and news on upcoming chapters. If the site outage bothered you, that's the next step.
Thanks! |

TFC Deleted Scene: Kata Chat This scene was originally supposed to feature early on in Episode II, but since the plot shifted and we jumped straight into the action instead, it ended up not being used. It provides another glimpse of the relationship Perdia and Zannah share. |

The supposedly upcoming Star Trek MMORPG that's been in the works has been passed on to another company. Though it's supposedly still going to happen, it's obviously been pushed back--way back.
Looks like you're stuck with us for now!
Thanks to Neowulf for the heads up. |
